“See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is” Ephesians 5:15-17
Brethren, in a world that is full of chaos and many voices, it takes one who understands the will of God to survive. We need to understand the voice of God, walk in his power and might and walk with the Holy Spirit to make decisions that will not kill us spiritually.
We live our lives for money, power, fame and we fight for the things of this world, which profits us nothing. It is not surprising that many of us have fallen on the wayside, living a dry and empty life, living in the wilderness, where we are confused and tormented. As Isiah said, we grope and walk in darkness. Our minds are filled with the troubles of this world. We then begin to think like the world and do things like the world. As a result, we make wrong decisions, say wrong words, become mean to others without knowing it.
Brethren, this will make us waste our time if we do not fight to stay in the faith. This is why Paul said we need to fight to retain our salvation; because the flesh profits nothing. Let us not labor for the bread that we eat but let us labor for the fruit of the Holy Spirit that lightens our souls. For the human spirit is the lamp of the Lord that sheds light on one’s inmost being. (Proverbs 20:27)
We may become wealthy, having all the vehicles, land, power in the world, but if the human soul is dark, we become like dead men walking. We live by the day, confused. But when the spirit that gives us understanding, wisdom, patience, longsuffering, humility and clean heart, dwells within us, we see and understand his purpose and plans for us. For without him, we cannot see according to the plans and purpose of God.
Paul said we should walk circumspectly. Being careful of the people we interact with, what we hear and what we see. We should always enquire of the Lord to understand the mind of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, brethren, let us work the work of faith, holding on to God and asking his counsel for anything we want to do, so that we will not fall off the faith.
Shalom!
