“And the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward”” Exodus 14:15

One day a pregnant lady went for pre-natal consultation, and the doctor, a lady, told her that everything was fine with her baby. The next day she came back to the hospital, and, to the surprise of the doctor, her baby’s situation worsened. When the doctor enquired about what happened, the lady responded that her husband had beaten her, and on and on she went complaining about her fate. The doctor laughed and brought a divorce certificate out of her bag saying: “I got divorced this morning!”. Speechless, the pregnant lady said: “you mean you are divorced today, and yet you are strong enough to come to work and you are attending this courteously and professionally to patients?”

In our anchor verse, the Israelites have just escaped from hundreds of years of slavery and before them was a natural blockage and behind them were Pharaoh and his army coming to take them back. As they were in that deadlock, out of faith, Moses said “The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace” (Exodus 14:14). But God spoke to Moses and asked him instead to tell the Israelites to go forward.

I believe this is the message for someone today. Maybe you have been cheated and utterly abused, consistently betrayed. Maybe the people you have most invested in financially, materially and emotionally are now looking down on you. Those you have contributed to promote, those God used you to help grow professionally or in business are paying you evil for the good you did for them. As the result of the above, your heart is full of bitterness, and you lack strength to move forward. Despite all that, God is asking you not to sit down crying and pitying yourself over the situations. The Holy Ghost is hereby encouraging you to stand up and move forward. If you want to stand out in your generation, the very first step you will have to take is stand up and initiate actions. The reason the Almighty has not put our eyes at the back of our head is that he wants us to be forward-looking, not backward.

Learn from the scars of the past but please, no matter what you suffered in the past, your success can only be function of the action you resolutely initiate today. Stand up now and move forward to achieve your glorious destiny. Remain blessed!
