“Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘this is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life” Isaiah 38:5
Beloved one
If you have ever seen an old or very sick person still breathing, you will notice that either the person is still speaking and can see or she can’t speak but can still breathe. However big the friendship and the kindness toward that parson might be, she turns into a burden to her family, parents, friends and allies who can leave their activities for months and years to take care of her. What a suffering for both the sick person and her family! Everything seems to come to a stop, business, work, travels, missions, attendance to worship and at times people wonder if it is not better for God, the giver of life, to take the sick person to put an end to her suffering and allow her to rest once and for all.
That is the atmosphere of despair in which the Most High will display his greatness. King Ezekias fell sick unto death and the prophet Isaiah came unto him and said unto him “This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover”.
Hezekiah did not keep silent and wait patiently to die on the ground that the decision he was notified was originating from God. Instead, he turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord: “Remember, O LORD, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes”. And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
After Hezekiah has reminded God of his past, the word of the Lord came to Isaiah “Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘this is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life”.
Beloved one, no matter what you are going through, even if your neighbours (parents, husband, wife, children, work mates) have lost hope, please bear in mind that God has not said his last word and even if he did as in the case of King Hezekiah, he is capable of repenting.
Your time has not come yet, you won’t die. Do Believe in God’s promise!
