“By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” - John 13:35.
As human being, we are so prompt in pointing fingers at others as our potential or real enemies. Some will say it is their neighbours, others will name their classmates and still others will mention their mother, father, and even some members of their church groups. When we are not blaming people for what we fail to achieve, then we accuse some situations and circumstances as things that are hampering us from achieving our dreams. For example you can hear people say: “had I not started school late, by now, I would have built a 5-storey house or my life would have been far better”, “If I were only born to a wealthier family, no wonder my full potential would have blossomed to the point that I would be a revelation to my generation and to the world,...”, etc.
But how many really try not to look out but inside themselves when conducting such an analysis? Believe it or not, self is the enemy we need to fear most. And no other victory is so precious as the victory gained over self.
We should not allow our feelings to be easily wounded. We are to live, not to guard our feelings or our reputation but to save souls. The Lord can do more in one hour than we can do in a whole lifetime. It is the glory of God to give his virtue to his children. The life of Christ has shown what humanity can do by being partaker of the divine nature. All that Christ received from God, we too may have. The bible says ask and you shall receive. With the persevering Faith of Jacob, with the unyielding persistence of Elijah, claim for yourself all that God has promised. The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, who can know it? Jeremiah 17:9 - We are called to take up the cross; ‘if anyone desire to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me’ said Jesus.
For whosoever desire to save his Life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it - Luke 9:23-24
When you surrender yourself entirely to God, when you fall all broken upon Jesus, you will be rewarded by a victory the joy of which you have never yet realized
