“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes” Ephesians 6:11
No matter who you are and what keeps you busy, whether you are a parent, a child, an adolescent or a young adult, an employer or an employee, a housewife or a scientist, you are in the midst of a cosmic war. Paul set the truth on how real that spiritual war is and the strategy to use. He told us what we need to know and to do to win that spiritual battle of life.
Satan is on a war footing to ruin your life through dishonesty, sexual immorality, materialism, criticism, discouragement, tiredness, depression and death. Thousands of what is known today as adjustment and moral ambiguity lead people to disloyalty against God. Today, numerous “freedoms” are destroying the moral foundations of both the society and the Bible. New philosophical approaches tend to paralyze human being’s conscience and sensitivity to truth, but the climax of evil is yet to come: “the great seduction is imminent. The Antichrist will perform its greatest wonders under our eyes. The forgery will be so perfect that only through the Holy Scriptures can one uncover it. It is indeed through the word of God that the true nature of each statement and each miracle can be tested.”
Unless we have genuinely learnt that Christ is the only source of our strength, our security and victory, we shall be despondent and overcome. Satan is striving today to spur imaginations, to awaken desires and pulses and eventually to take control of our will. He has succeeded so much in dispensing his documentation to God’s elected, in selling to them his music, delights and pleasures. Since he found a way into our families, even Christians are under the risk of spiritual failure.
Daily life experiences show that we are not involved in a fictitious battle or in a dummy war, but genuinely in the most important war that has ever been. That’s the reason why we should always “submit ourselves to God”. We should constantly “be strong in the Lord” and we should ever be observant of James’s advice: “Resist the devil and he will flee from you” (James 4:7).
