THE POWER OF OUR INVINCIBLE HELPER

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth” Act 1:8

Jesus Christ told His disciples about his eventual return to heaven, and this came to pass in Act 1:9. Prior to His return, He reassured us that we too would one day be with him in heaven (John 14:3). What a glorious moment

He knew that there is going to be a considerable gap between His ascension and eventual return so He promised that after he’d returned to God, his followers would be sent a ‘Helper’ to be with us within this period and forever. (John 14:1-16). I am glad to let you know that the invincible helper is The Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity and undoubtedly the least understood member of the Godhead. He shares the strengths of God and Jesus Christ, such as omniscience, omnipotence, and eternality and above all He is all-loving, forgiving, merciful and just.

In the past, He appeared in the account of creation (Genesis 1:2). He caused the Virgin Mary to conceive (Matthew 1:20). He descended on Jesus like a dove at His baptism (Matthew 3:16), and He rested like tongues of fire on the apostles (Act 2:1-5).

Today, His divine works are to advance God’s plan of salvation (Luke 4:18), guide the church and sanctify believers in their walk with Christ (1 Corinthian 6:10-11, Galatians 5:5), counsel and encourage Christians as we battle the temptations of the forces of Satan.

It is important to note that we have the choice whether or not to accept the Holy Spirit’s guidance. When we know the will of God but do not follow it, we are resisting the Holy Spirit work in our lives (Acts 7:51), and a desire to follow our own way grieves Him (Ephesians 4:30). Habitual sin will cause us to miss what the Holy Spirit wants to say to us through the Word.

My advice to you is to be in tune with God’s will, turning from all sinfull habits, and making a habit of prayer and the study of God’s Word a lifestyle as it will allow you to recognize and follow the Holy Spirit’s leading.

God bless you.
