"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus," 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.
It is important to know why we thank God and the impact or outcome of thanksgiving. God had already done everything and made everything available for us before creating us. The fundamental reason why we should thank God is that God is the one doing everything. We are recipients of what He is doing or has done. You are not performing; God is the one performing. Your job is to believe everything and thank Him. Nothing happens instantaneously without God.
God is the one who sustains everything by His Word or His power. The reason why you can breathe now, and the reason why you can do what you are doing by your physical ability, it is because God is the one who sustains everything. Everything working in our lives is the outworking of God's love, faithfulness, and power. Even when you think you are labouring, God has already gone ahead of you to build; if God did not build, your labouring would be in vain.
Many people get carried away by their own inputs that we forget to appreciate God and His input. Without God, you are nothing. What you are doing is nothing without God (John 15:5). What makes what you do to become something is because of God. You need to be humble before God, or life will humble you. Your everything is nothing without God.
