Martial KOUNOU

“(…) when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, there is not vessel more. And the oil stayed.” 2 King 4:6.

Beloved,

Allow me, the time of this message, to call our attention to one peculiar attribute of our Lord, an attribute that is less often mentioned and yet true, one that not many have experienced though it is available to all: the God of more than enough, the one of whom Paul wrote: “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

God can indeed do far exceedingly more and better than what our mind can ever think of. If you don’t believe me, ask the widow of 2 Kings 4 whose children were about to be taken as collaterals for her late husband’s debt. By the time she was done acting as instructed by God’s Prophet, she knew that God is the God of more than enough. Likewise, if he were to testify, I guess the leprous who traced his steps back to thank Jesus after he had experienced healing, would probably have concluded his testimony thus: “I only went to him for healing; but, he did more; not only did he take away my reproach, but he also made me whole. I believe He is the God of more than enough” (Luke 17:19). Remember also how, with only five loaves of bread and two fish, our Lord was able to feed five thousand people with up to twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of left over collected! (Matthew 14:13-21). Is that not astonishing?

Loved ones, we are generally so prompt in limiting God and in confining his ability to our perceptions which, we all know, are shaped and conditioned by our experience. But our God is far more than that.

Some have come to him because of a health issue and have ended up getting astoundingly blessed financially; for others, it is their misbehaving children that made their paths cross that of the Lord and the change it resulted into was so huge and so obvious that it has literally transformed their lives. God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34). He shows no favoritism or partiality to anyone. Therefore, whatever good he did to others, he is equally able to do to you if you will surrender to him and ask him earnestly; far more and much better will he do. Remain blessed!
