‘‘For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.’’ Ephesians 2: 8-10

I hear people say they believe their good works will get them to Heaven. If this is true, what then is the purpose of the cross? You cannot be saved by your good works, because no matter how hard you try, your “good” is not good enough for the perfectly Holy and completely righteous God who alone grants salvation.

HOW TO BE SAVED BY GOD’s WORK?

1. CONFESSION WITH THE MOUTH AND BELIEVE IN THE HEART.

We need to know that no matter how good we think we are if we do not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, there is no hope for us.

In Romans 10:9-10, scripture says that ‘’if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved’’.

2. BAPTISM IN WATER AND BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

Baptism is a criterion for the salvation of the saints. Belief without baptism is an uncompleted task so we must be baptized to complete the task. Mark 16:16 says ‘’Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”

3. EATING THE HOLY COMMUNION IN A WORTHY MANNER.

After confession, Water & Holy Ghost baptism, God completes the salvation of people when they worthily eat of the Holy Communion. (John 6:51)

BENEFITS

(i) The saved are defended by God. (Jeremiah 22:16); (ii) the saved receive mercy. (Luke 1:72, Titus 3:4-5); (iii) the saved have peace with God. (Romans 5:1); (iv) the saved will rapture when Christ shall come. (1Thessalonians 4:16-17); (v) the saved will attend the marriage supper of the Lamb. (Rev 19:7-9); (vi) the saved will be part of the millennium rule. (Revelation 20:4-6)

Father in Heaven, we pray for forgiveness of sins IJN. Lord, help us to be part of the above benefits reserved for the saved IJN.
