"If you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will forgive you too." Mat. 6: 14
We have all, at one time or another, already felt how much it hurts to be criticized, ridiculed, humiliated, denigrated by a relative, covered with lies and slander, or rejected or betrayed. You also probably know that resentment is all the more exacerbated when it comes to people in whom you have placed great trust, loved, raised or helped, and occasionally, perhaps you could not stop you shedding tears, spend nights rehash the pain ...; you may also have lost your appetite and started developing negative emotions at the sight of the offender, small diseases, and many other things ...
Faced with this picture, the answer given by our society is revenge. It is unfortunately with this idea that we were, for the most part, brought up with our parents, films and novels that we read: "the villain must pay" and we call it justice! We radiate these people from our heart and our contacts, waiting for a misfortune to fall upon them for our satisfaction.
In contrast to what society advocates, God invites us to a Christ-like attitude by forgiving: "As Christ forgave you, forgive you also" Col. 3:13. A forgiveness that is not subject to any prior condition from the offender, whether he apologizes or not ....
Jesus invites us not only to overcome resentment towards the one who has offended us but to go further: "But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who are abusing and persecuting you " Mat. 5:44. Leading by example, at the cross, he will pray for his executioners in these words: "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."
The process of forgiving or asking for forgiveness may prove painful but let us not forget the power of liberation that it contains: the inner deliverance, peace and joy and perhaps the key of divine healing or miraculous opening doors remained closed for a long time.
Dear Beloved ones, this is the right time, support your forgiveness with loving action on this end of the year and start counting your blessings before entering the new season that’s opening before us.
