“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory” Colossian 3:1-4

At the end of 2022 I saw many people (believers & unbelievers) painting and cleaning up their homes. As everyone was busy cleaning it occurred to me that 2Rs must have come into play the process of cleaning and these include RETAIN, RELEASE and REMEMBER

As we look at our lives in the light of these verses we are challenged to retain some things, to release others, and remember the rest. Let us now dive deep into the 2Rs for good living in the new year

R 1 – RETAIN

Some things must be retained while cleaning for the new year. In a spiritual sense, Paul is telling us that there are precious spiritual possessions we would do well in and we have to hang on to. These are:

v The awareness of our Foundation in Christ Jesus. Galatians 2:20, Romans 6:1-11

v Attention to our Focus. This means we should retain our thoughts on heavenly things that bring God’s glory. We should have a deeper knowledge of Jesus, live a holy life, exhibit holiness in our domestic and social life and be effective in our prayer life.

R 2 – RELEASE.

There are some things we attach to our lives that are just spiritual trash which we need to let go of them. These include but not limited to false doctrine, vain deceit, ungodly traditions, Fornication, Covetousness, Anger, Malice, Blaspheme, Filthy Communication, and Lying.

Are there some spiritual values in your life that need to be Retained? Does your focus need to be upgraded? It is my prayer that God gives you the strength to retain and upgrade your awareness and focus on Christ Jesus in Jesus Mighty Name.

Are there some things in your life that need to be Released? Proverbs 8:35 says ‘‘For whoever finds me (Wisdom) finds life And obtains favor and grace from the LORD.’’ By reason of the knowledge gotten today, I pray God Almighty gives you the zeal and grace to let go off them in Jesus Name.
