“And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.” Luke 19:13
As children of God, our heavenly Father expects us to occupy this earth and replenish it. Sadly, we lost our original authority, dominion and leadership to the devil because we disobeyed God.
In the scripture above, some of the servants occupied and produced a result. However, there was one servant who decided to occupy the wrong way by playing safe, keeping the time and putting his light under the bushel.
Let us now look at how we occupy to get results:
a. Occupation is Supplication -Supplication is standing on the word of God to remind God of His promises. He promised that He will supply all our needs according to the riches in glory. Supplication is applying an effective communication channel with your maker towards your vision. You see Paul requested Timothy in 1 Timothy 2:1, “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;” You don’t own your life, therefore, seek the owner for direction.
b. Occupation is Application - When we occupy we apply His word, power and command. Our number one occupation in this world is to share His word. His word carries peace, grace, love and hope. Apply His word by doing what you have been called to do in this world and remember you will be asked to give account. In Matthew 24: 46 “Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.”
We are also commanded to apply this word by leading someone to Christ so they will be saved. When Jesus said “Occupy until I come”, this is what he meant in Matthew 28:19 “Go ye, therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost”
c. Occupation is Multiplication - When we occupy, we multiply his creation, work, value. The position you are in now requires you to bring value and increase. In Luke 19:16 “Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds”.
We need to invest our lives knowing that we will give account on the Master’s return
