“Love is patient, love is kind (…) it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered,” 1 Corinthians 13:4-5
When we put God at the center of our life, problems easily find solutions, fear turns into hope and anger becomes love. As God is love, having him in us puts us in a good position to thoroughly experience that love for ourselves but to also see it overflow and pour down on others. Hereunder are some evidences of God love manifested to us through Jesus-Christ his son:
• Love is patient and full of kindness: Jesus endured whip and crucifixion, not defending himself but rather giving himself wholly for our salvation.
• Love does not boast: It does not take its pleasure in boasting. Actually though Jesus is God of the Universe with outstanding dominion over everything, he was born in a stable. Later on he washed the feet of his disciples and died on the cross.
• Love is not easily angered: it keeps no account of wrongs. Had Jesus done this, we would have been in big trouble. Instead, rather than point finger to our wrong and retaliate subsequently, he preferred to forgive our mistakes. In fact, he took our iniquities upon himself and suffered the punishment of our sins.
• Love is never wrong: Jesus did things perfectly, as God asked him to. He showed unfailing love both for his friends and for his enemies, for you and for me. After living a perfect love life, he died for humanity out of love.
That is the kind of love God expects from us. How many marriages would be restored if each spouse could display that level of love! There would neither be family disputes nor broken or lost friendships for violence, revenge, anger when driving and the insults that result from it would be of the past for ever. Opposition of the world is much less risky to us than the evil we keep in our hearts.
Jesus said, "A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another, as I have loved you, that ye also love one another" John 13:34.
Today, let’s commit ourselves to respect these love principles and put our love into action as Jesus did
