“… The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” James 5:16c (NKJV)_
“…The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” James 5:16c NLT
The phrase, "effectual fervent" has been a well-known expression used in relationship to prayer for centuries. Generally speaking, it conveys the idea of “energizing,” similar to an electrical current that brings energy to a circuit. When applied to the passage, this suggests a type of prayer that is “passionate, heartfelt, heated, persistent” and so forth. The Amplified Bible, renders it another way that’s especially illuminating: “The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]” (James 5:16 TAB).
This kind of prayer is quite the opposite of a lethargic, repetitious or superficial type. And while passionate, it is not merely whipping up emotions, or generating exciting sounds or words... but expresses an intense sincere confidence in God. This might also be described as praying “radically,” with everything you got, with all your heart... along the lines of what Jeremiah wrote, “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13).
The amplification of devil and his powers has been given unusual attention/publicity today. Many believers are embodiment of failure; yet we are equipped to live a triumphant life coupled with outstanding testimonies!
The scripture above shows that we can have wonderful results; that is, have outstanding result in every area of our lives. This promise is hanging on two yoked conditions -fervent prayer and right living-.The two must be done together, doing one and leaving the other will definitely not produce the expected results." The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with".
Are your praying fervently? Are you living a holy life? God's Word says we can have confidence that when we pray, He hears us and we have the petitions we desire of Him. The only requirement is those petitions must be made in accordance with His will for our lives. The question becomes, "How do we know His will? As we partner with the Holy Spirit he reveals his will to us”
Prayer: Dear heavenly father, I receive the grace to pray fervently and to live a holy life in Jesus name.
