“Jehovah is with him, and prosperity is with him” Genesis 39: 2
God is our Master. His presence radiates us with his glory, his peace, his security, his happiness. Many men of God, as known by the history, have claimed the presence of God in their walk with Him.
The example of Abraham, Moses, Joseph and Jesus Christ, as reported in the Bible, is a lesson in this text, to name but a few.
Joseph knew prosperity and glory in Egypt because the Lord was with him (The Bible, Genesis 32: 9) and his entourage was certain, because his master knew it (The Bible, Genesis 32: 3). This testimony was also given of his ancestor Abraham. And Abimelech king of Gerar, a Gentile, came to Abraham, saying, “God is with you in all that you do". (The Bible, Genesis 21:22). Isaac received the same testimony later, to the point of being driven out by King Gerar who realized that he was stronger than his people (The Bible, Genesis 26:16).
Moses spoke to God, when it was time to leave Egypt for the promised land, and insisted that His presence be with them (The Bible, Exodus 33: 15-16).
Jesus Christ, our Lord, before the beginning of his ministry, sought for 40 days the presence of God in fasting and prayer in the wilderness, and throughout his ministry on earth, Luke 4: 4, John 18:20).
What certainty do we have of the presence of God? God said to Moses, "I will walk with you and give you rest.” (The Bible, Exodus 33:14). Christ told his disciples, who we are today: "... and behold, I am with you every day ... until the end of the world" (The Bible, Matthew 28:20).
The presence of God is real. What will we do without God this year? Will it still look like other years with promises always postponed, struggles without results? Even though the near or extended environment often disturbs us in the consistency of our resolutions with God, we are not going to be discouraged. Let us focus on the promises of God and His presence for us as He was with Joseph.
Happy New Year.
