“For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us …” Romans 15:4
Imagine somebody choosing to only learn from his own mistakes and failures; that person will be preventing herself from speedy growth for it is intelligence and wisdom to analyse historical facts and learning from what led people to failure or success, resolve to behave in such a way that will yield benefits for self and others. These are but a few take-away lessons from some biblical histories:
a. Sin can stand on our way to pleasing God and winning battles of life. Remember how the powerful Israel failed before the small Ai just because Achan turned his covetousness into theft (Joshua 7)
b. God views praises directed to him in the midst of challenges as the highest level of faith and will do the impossible to rescue his children. That is what Jehoshaphat’s victory over the enemy of Israel and Paul and Silas' experience in prison teach us.
c. The Almighty is not limited by the scientific laws. Though from our human perspective he might appear late in responding to some of our supplications, he is always in time. Lazarus's resurrection perfectly epitomizes this.
d. God is more than able to bring abundance from little or nothing (multiplication of fish and bread), to create anything and everything brilliant using the power of the speech (creation).
e. He does not share his glory with anyone and can overthrow kings, from the moment they start thinking they owe their elevation to their smartness (Nebucadnetsar).
f. Medical doctors treat but God alone heals. Don't relent in trusting him for your healing and you will experience health mercy. Remember the story of the lady of Mark 5:25-29 who was losing blood for 12 years
g. Criticizing God's servants is a dangerous shortcut to bringing curse upon oneself. If you will enjoy life, please stay far from any negative comment on his Anointed. Read about Moses' sister’s leprosy in Number 12.
There are many more lessons we learn from bible stories teach every day. Would you mind sharing some of your takeaway lessons from the Bible stories on this forum? I am confident this will help strengthen other readers' faith while reminding yourself of some divine principles. Remain blessed as you do this.
It is my prayer that each of us learns from these stories so we could not only have lives that mirror God's glory butt which will also be fruitful and reveal God’s children to the world. (Romans 9:19)
