« God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son…. » John 3 :16
Beloved ones,
Very rarely will a subject have been treated under various aspects as love. From antiquity to modern times, irrespective of cultures and languages through which they are expressed, whether in its horizontal or vertical components, love undoubtedly raises passion as much as it is little or ill-understood. Christians know so much John 3:16 that they can out of instinct cite it. However, do they understand its deep meaning and its direct implications for their lives and particularly for situations they are going through?
Let’s say it from scratch, the love of God surpasses all knowledges and it is the driver of his actions, of his mercy towards us. All we receive from God, we receive out of his love. In fact no one has loved us and will ever love as as much as God and he did better than speak about love; he actually proved it by giving his son, his unique, for our salvation. Having done the maximum, is there anything less he won’t do for our good?
If only we understood the depth of the love of God for us, we would willingly prefer the beauty of silence to some of our complaints, especially when we look surrounded from all sides by difficulties! The simple fact that we are still alive today is the proof, if any, of his love for us because, otherwise, the slightest illnesses could have taken us away. If only we could understand to what extent the love of God for us is great, it would be much easier for us to receive a good number of the things we are looking for because doubt would give way and would no longer block our prayers.
Beloved one, when Jesus’ life was threatened by Herod, God ordered Joseph to run away to Egypt from where he came back 12 years later, after those who wanted him dead were dead and buried. Out of love for his people, see how God dealt with Egyptians (the ten plagues and the burial of Pharaoh and his army in the red sea)! Out of love for you, God can dispossess other people, make them lose their jobs, allow them to fall sick or die early for you to enjoy your life. If he had not spared his son, there is nothing he cannot do for you. Therefore understand how much he loves you, place your hope in him and be still!
