“Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time. And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there.” 1 King 19:2-3

When you open radios, TV, listen to community news, visit hospitals, you hear or see things like people losing their jobs, price increases, natural disasters, sickness and disease, death etc. to a point that people wonder what the future holds. Friends, we are not alone in this; even Bible heroes had their times when they wanted to give up. In Romans 5:3-5, Paul says that we can rejoice in our sufferings because we are a people of hope. Hope is the confident expectation of what God has promised, and its strength is in His faithfulness.

In hopeless situations, hope brings:

1. God’s presence: Cast me not away from thy presence and take not thy Holy Spirit from me. This is a powerful prayer. We need to have the presence of the Lord in our lives; it is a wonderful experience. Psalm 51:11

2. God’s provision: God’s joy as a father is the pleasure, He gets in providing for us. He derives pleasure in providing for us things we ask for and those we don’t even ask for. All is because of the hope we have in His provision. In that your situations, God is saying to you that his grace is sufficient.

3. God’s power: In Jeremiah 10:12-13 the Bible says “But God made the earth by his power, and he preserves it by his wisdom. With his own understanding, he stretched out the heavens.”

What is your weakness? Is it a son or a daughter that hasn’t quite turned out the way you thought he or she would? Is it a job situation that has gone upside down or a medical diagnosis that has scared you? Whatever it is, the power of God will turn it round in Jesus’ Mighty Name.

Remember that any time you activate hope you paralyze fear and when you paralyze fear you defeat the devil. You have to activate hope because Hope triggers boldness, boldness triggers bold steps & bold steps confirm God’s promise

God bless you.
