HONORING OUR APPOINTMENT WITH GOD.

HONORING OUR APPOINTMENT WITH GOD.

“In the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there.” Mark 1:35

Jesus models for us the intentional process of spending time with God. _“At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place.”_ Luke 4:42

How easy it is for believers to honor appointments with doctors, interview appointments and so on but difficult to honor appointments with our maker. What is your prayer time? What is your Bible study time? What is your time in church and how often are we on time for these divine appointments? I remember how recently I was in a hurry to meet up with a medical appointment and while on my way, the Holy Spirit dropped in me a question; How often do you meet up with my appointment? I am guilty of this, but I don’t know about you. Often, to some believers, it’s OK to go to church late. It’s OK to have a quiet time only when we are free.

People of God, let’s get serious with our maker. He should come first in all that we do. Name a man who walked the path of this life with God, and I will show you a man who was consistent in his fellowship with the Almighty. It’s not about how long you pray, study the Bible, or how often you go to church; but it’s all about having to do with consistency. If we take God seriously, he will also take us seriously and vice-versa.

“I rise before dawn and cry for help,” says Psalm 119:147, “I hope in your words.” David writes in Psalm 5, “O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch”_ (Psalm 5:3). Psalm 55:17 “Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.” Psalm 119:164 _“Seven times a day do I praise thee, because of thy righteous judgments”.

In Deuteronomy 9:25 Moses writes “Thus I fell down before the LORD forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first; because the LORD had said he would destroy you.”

There are many more chapters and verses in the Bible that talk about how people of God dedicated special times to seeking the face of God and walked consistently with God. May God help us to honor our appointments with him. Stay blessed.
