GOD DOES NOT CHOOSE THE QUALIFIED!

GOD DOES NOT CHOOSE THE QUALIFIED!

Martial KOUNOU

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:9

Have you noticed how, almost generally, God picks ordinary people and achieves extraordinary things through them? David had a better way of putting it when he said in Psalms 40: 1-2 “I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings”.

That is the God we serve! He does not choose the qualified! He qualifies his chosen by taking them through situations which may challenge them but which ultimately will remove the world from them and introduces them into intimacy with Him, thereby enabling them to love him more, trust him more and serve him more. In fact, God always leaves people better than he meets them. Look at the lady that was caught in the act of adultery: she was brought to Jesus condemned and left Jesus comforted.

One of the key differences between God and farmers is that when time comes to sow, the normal farmer identifies the bad seeds and throws them away. God, on the contrary, takes the supposedly bad seed and by the time he is done with it, it is made better and once sowed, it yields a bountiful harvest. David was rejected but God picked him, took care him, made him king and changed his life thoroughly. Abraham achieved nothing valuable before God met with him and he made him father of the great nation. Jacob was a reputed deceiver and was running away from his betrayed elder brother until the angel of God met with him at Bethel and there was a U-turn in his destiny and history. Joseph was called a dreamer by his brothers who pushed hatred as far as willing to kill him. God inspired them to sell him and put him on the highways to the fulfilment of his destiny.

My brother and my sister, you may not have gotten to your destination, but believe me, you have left your former location; God is patiently molding you to make the new you that will glory his name. Like the clay, let his able finger format you and qualify you for what he has in store for you, for your family, for your generation. Remain ever blessed. Amen!
