FIGHTING A GOOD FIGHT

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith; Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness” 2 Timothy 4:7-8

People of God, as believers this should always guide us in our walk with God. Never giving up! Never relenting but pressing on regardless of the challenges or obstacles we face.

Elisha followed Elijah until he received a double portion of his anointing (2 Kings 2:1)

“And it came to pass, when the Lord would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal. And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the Lord hath sent me to Beth-el. And Elisha said unto him, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee.”

Ruth followed Naomi not knowing what lied ahead. (Ruth 1:16-17)

But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.”

Esther took a risk not knowing what lied ahead of her and said if I perish, I perish. (Esther 4:16)

“Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”

In all three examples, we can see determination and persistence. This is the attitude we should have as believers. We should not give up on God no matter what. Yes, I know. Sometimes it looks as if the enemy is winning the battle and it seems God is quiet, but his word says he will never leave us or forsake us. I have seen severally in the game of football where a team which was at the verge of defeat ends up winning the game. Again, I have seen in boxing matches where the one at the verge of losing in the bout bounces back to win, sometimes with just a punch. Never give up! Keep on pressing and pressing. Don’t quit! It is not over yet.

Stay Blessed.
