FAITH, INSTEAD OF FEAR IN THE PANDEMIC

“Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God (…) will come and save you” Isaiah 35:4

God is always our source of protection, strength and peace in difficult and unknow times. Because he is our ever- present help, He specializes in providing the best for his own people in turmoil situations.

God always keeps His promises. He has power to make them, and power to fulfill them. Although doubt arises in some people’s heart, yet it is the fact. The initial company of Israelites who departed from Egypt did so with reluctance. This is because bad as things were in Egypt, the known seemed better than the unknown to those who lacked faith. In our world today, people prefer to believe in what is seen to the unseen, but God is not limited to what is seen.

This pandemic is a global oppression of the devil and its aim is to bring a total collapse of nations and we need to confront and overcome it by faith and action. In doing so we must trust in God and in the power of his might. (Ephesians 6:10).

Functions of faith in fear:

1. Divine Direction: From scriptures, we understand that God provides divine directions to people who exercise faith in him. It is written: And I will bring the blind by a way [that] they knew not; I will lead them in paths [that] they have not known I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them (Isaiah 42:16). May the Lord God grant us unhindered direction to our glorious destiny in Jesus Name.

2. Divine Security: According to scriptures, God encircles, encompasses, covers, and shields those who put their trust in him. Psalm 91 for example has kept many people safe during unsafe situations. May the Lord God secure us and our families from the invincible enemy in Jesus name.

What then are the drivers to the functions of faith

1. Being born-again: As it is written Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3).

2. Meekness: David said in Psalm 25:9: The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way. This means meekness of heart must be in place before God can show us His ways; which are higher than ours.
