“He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. And he called his ten servants and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, occupy till I come.” Luke 19:12-13
When we accept Jesus Christ, we have the privilege of becoming his children and we are adopted into His family. When adopted into His family we enjoy all the privileges and inheritance rights of God’s children. That is why in John 1:12 scripture says ‘‘But as many as received him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:’’
To occupy in this context means to be in control of a situation or a territory given by God for a considerable period and in this case, it is the world. Because God cannot come physically on the earth, that is why He has asked us to occupy till He returns. We should know that any time we are given the task to occupy, we are also given a responsibility to carry. King David, for example, was given the task to occupy the throne of Israel and ruled for 40 years.
It is interesting to know that many people have failed to occupy or have lost the opportunity they once had because they are holding on things that are not of God. These include jealousy, dishonesty, greed, blood sacrifice, idolatry, laziness, etc. It is difficult for one to go up or occupy a God given position if you are into any of those I have mentioned. If by chance you go up and you are engaged into any of these, you will come down disgracefully.
I pray the Lord cleanse us from all filthiness and make us worthy to occupy our rightful positions. When God calls you to occupy a given position, you stand to enjoy the following benefits:
1. God’s protection, and no one will unseat you. (Isaiah 54:17, Proverbs 19:23);
2. Highly level connection to others. You were not created to have relationship with God alone, but with others whom God will link you to. (John 15:5);
3. You will live a joyful life whether you have abundance or not. (Romans 12:12)
4. You will reign in wisdom and great understanding. (Proverbs 2:1-6)
We will occupy our rightful position in Jesus Mighty Name
