“And he dealt wisely, and dispersed of all his children throughout all the countries of Judah and Benjamin, unto every fenced city: and he gave them victual in abundance. And he desired many wives.” 2 Chronicles 11:23

You are creating a pattern for posterity by the life you’re living now. You should be very careful because whatever you do, your lineage will reap it in time and eternity. We see from this passage how Rehoboam followed the pattern of his father King Solomon. While his father had 700 wives and 300 concubines, he, Rehoboam had 18 wives and 60 concubines and gave birth to 28 sons and 60 daughters. Bible said he even desired many more wives.

Father Abraham, his son Isaac, and grandson Jacob all had a pattern of late childbearing. Abraham was 100 years when Isaac was born. Isaac was 60 years when Jacob and Isau were born and the standard view of the birth of Joseph argues that Jacob was 91 years old when he fathered Joseph. We must all understand that evil or good patterns exist and the causes are either Self-Acquired (Genesis 9:22-27, Mathew 22:23-29) or Inherited (Genesis 49:5-7). Much as they exist, either of the patterns can be broken depending on the individual’s actions.

STEPS TO BREAK EVIL PATTERNS

1. Seek the root cause of the pattern: Without finding out the exact cause of the evil pattern, it might be difficult to pinpoint a solution to the challenge. Matthew 15:13 says that ‘‘every plant which is not planted by God must be uprooted’’. Something needs to be uprooted from that family tree before peace and joy can come in.

2. Apply targeted prayers and fasting: When the root cause has been revealed by God through premeditated prayers of inquiry, the next step is to apply targeted prayer and fasting program to break the cycle and destroy the evil load.

3. Prophetic ordinances and application of the knowledge of God: Believe in the blessing of God sent through prophets. They are potent enough to break evil patterns. Also, apply God’s knowledge in your situation and stop listening to public opinions about your matter. (Amos 3:7, Hosea 12:13)

4. Enter into a higher covenant with God: When a child of God is deeply immersed into a covenant with God, evil patterns can either be directly broken or God reveals what needs to be done to restore the person or the family. (Deuteronomy 7:9)

May God increase your positive impact bandwidth for posterity sake.
