’’Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant ? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up : for God is able to make him stand’’ Romans 14:4
Our souls are sick today because of the words of others. As the Bible says, with our mouth, we build. With it again, we destroy. What we have failed to note is that Jesus Christ has not condemned us, but rather has come to call us unto righteousness, through the blood shed on Calvary. No matter how badly one may have sinned, it is not any man’s place to judge. What is expected of us as Christians is to pray for one another and love one another. And condemning people makes it even difficult for them to come close to God.
I have once met with a man whose attitude raised a lot of questions in me. For me he was a drunkard, idle, rude and irresponsible. One day, this man’s house burnt down and he was also partially burnt from the fire. He had lost everything he had and needed to rebuild his house. What baffled me the most was when I learned that this man’s family is well to do and they have a house in the North. Yet, he chose to live in an iron corrugated house with his family. Even in his burnt state, he refused to go back home. His reasons were clear "I would rather be here than to be killed in that house" This gave me another version of the story. As someone once told me "there are always two sides to the story".
The reasons for the man’s way of life are deeper than I thought. He has so many battles that only Jesus could win. Remember what the Bible says in Ephesians 6:12. Therefore, we should not judge people from what we see. We should teach them the word, so that they will be saved. Even in the church today, we see people that have fallen from grace. Instead of praying for them, we castigate and condemn them. Their battles are deeper brethren.
We need to fall on our knees and pray for those Christians that have strayed from the truth. We need to strengthen their faith by sharing God’s love for them and the opportunity they have to be closer to God. The word of God says when a righteous man falls seven times, seven times he shall rise up again.
Be that person that builds people, not condemn them.
