How I Love Your Law !

dimanche 6 décembre 2015, par Casimir E. CAKPO

‘’The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.’’ Psalm 19:7

It is common to see people compare the Word of God (the Bible) with a parachute : for it to be useful, it is necessary to open it. And the more we let it operate in our lives, the more it unfolds its wonderful power to change and bless. More often than not, it is compared to a grain which, though alive and active, will not yield any fruit lest it is sown. Once sown in the heart and taken care of through medication and application, it is up to yielding wonderful fruits. Unending source of comfort, you will also find therein the divine support and relief in difficult moments. Its draws you near the Creator and keeps you away from sin. God’s answer to all questions the world asks, it is an excellent food to grow up and a terrible weapon for spiritual battles.

Numerous are the advantages included in the meditation and application of the Word of God. This testimony given in Psalms 19:8 is self-explanatory : ‘’the precepts of the lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.’’ This is what the Lord himself says about his Word ‘’As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from mouth : it will not return to me empty but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.’’ (Isaiah 55:10-11).

So many testimonies, probably yours included, will show us how much our lives could be enriched with the beneficent presence of God, His active power and how we could experience a good deal of miracles when we shift our priority to meditating and applying the Word of God.

It is therefore not surprising how enemy works to keep us far from the Word or to make sure we only give it very little time. He often succeeds in doing so by giving us other work, a much too loaded diary, constantly increasing and tiresome professional challenges, many projects that we think are worth taking more and more time, addiction to social networks and Medias. No wonder we take advantage of these work but God expects even more for us.

That’s why as the end of the year is growing near and at the time we are getting ready to enter a New Year, I’m sending you this invitation : let’s addict ourselves with great commitment and consecration to the meditation of the Word of God. I invite us to take hold of the Holy Scriptures and to dive ourselves in them every day and night and for hours even more than we have been in the habit of doing this far. This may imply switching off TV and radio sets for some time to have an encounter with the Word. For others, this might mean shutting down some pages of social networks and devoting these long hours of distraction to rather diving our sights in the World of God with a worshiping and prayer spirit. And yet for others, this might mean having a saucepan or a broom in one hand and the open Bible in the other, the brush or the fork in one hand and the Bible in the other ! To make a long matter short, it is all about saturating ourselves with the Word and refusing to consider a mental and superficial understanding of some abstracts of the Bible but rather to search from it a deep and thriving revelation of God, His Love and His Power.

Beloved ones, you surely will agree with me that we will all be impressed to see what will happen in our life if only we invest in that way time to meditate the Word of God. This investment will yield for us more fruit in all walks of our life and, full of joy, we could shout like the Psalmist ‘’Oh, how I love your law ! I meditate on it all day long’’ (Psalms 119:97) or like the Prophet ‘’When your words came, I ate them ; they were my joy and my heart’s delight…’’ Jeremiah 15:16.
